Zinc Chloride (ZnCl₂) is a white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water. It is produced in several industrial grades to meet the exact purity and application requirements of different industries. Our Anhydrous Grade (98-99% purity) is used in demanding chemical synthesis and battery electrolyte applications, our Technical Grade (90-92%) is used in galvanizing flux and textile processing, and our Commercial Grade (80-85%) serves general industrial and construction applications.
We also manufacture Zinc Chloride Liquid, a clear to pale yellow solution with a Zn assay of 22-24% and ZnCl₂ content of 42-46%, widely used in hot-dip galvanizing flux operations, textile finishing, and water treatment. Galvanizing & Metal Finishing
Zinc Chloride Liquid is the primary flux used in hot-dip galvanizing of steel. It cleans the steel surface, removes oxides, and promotes adhesion of the zinc coating. Consistent specific gravity and pH are critical for reliable flux performance in continuous galvanizing lines.
Battery & Electrochemical Industry
Anhydrous Zinc Chloride (98-99% purity) is used as the electrolyte in zinc-carbon dry cell batteries. Its high purity prevents cell contamination that would reduce battery shelf life and output voltage. It is also used in zinc-air battery research applications.
Textile Processing
Zinc Chloride Technical Grade is used in textile manufacturing as a mercerizing agent for cotton and as a flame retardant treatment for fabrics. It modifies cellulose fibre structure to improve dye uptake and fabric strength in certain finishing processes.

Zinc Chloride functions as a Lewis acid catalyst in Friedel-Crafts reactions, organic synthesis, and petrochemical processes. The Anhydrous Grade is preferred for synthesis applications where water content would interfere with the reaction mechanism.

Meghachem manufactures Zinc Chloride (ZnCl₂) in three solid grades: Anhydrous Grade (98-99% assay), Technical Grade (90-92% assay), and Commercial Grade (80-85% assay). We also manufacture Zinc Chloride Liquid with a Zn assay of 22-24% and ZnCl₂ content of 42-46%. All products are manufactured at our GIDC Vatva, Ahmedabad facility.
Anhydrous Grade (98-99%) has the highest purity with metal impurities below 10 PPM, used in battery electrolytes and high-purity chemical synthesis. Technical Grade (90-92%) has slightly higher ammonia and alkalies content, used in galvanizing flux and textile processing. Commercial Grade (80-85%) has the highest ammonia content (10-15%) and is used in general industrial applications, wood preservation, and paper manufacturing where lower purity is acceptable.
Zinc Chloride Liquid (42-46% ZnCl₂, pH 1-5, specific gravity 1.43-1.48) is primarily used in hot-dip galvanizing flux operations to clean and prepare steel surfaces before zinc coating. It is also used in textile finishing, industrial water treatment, oil and gas well fluids, and direct-use industrial processes where handling a liquid is preferred over solid zinc chloride.
ur Zinc Chloride Liquid has a specific gravity of 1.43 to 1.48 measured at 30°C. The pH range is 1 to 5. Zn content is 22-24% and ZnCl₂ content is 42-46%. Appearance is clear colourless to pale yellow liquid. These specifications are verified on every production batch.

Both Technical Grade Zinc Chloride (solid) and Zinc Chloride Liquid are used in galvanizing. The Liquid form (42-46% ZnCl₂) is most commonly used in hot-dip galvanizing flux baths because it is easier to handle and dose directly into the flux tank. The Technical Grade solid is dissolved on-site in some operations. Both grades effectively clean steel surfaces and remove oxides to ensure proper zinc adhesion.
